Personal Experience & Biography
Mac Sasser graduated from UNC Law School before lawyers used computers. He started his legal career working for eight years as a staff and managing attorney for non-profit law firms, first in the North Carolina mountains with Legal Services of the Blue Ridge and then in Charlotte with Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, primarily in federal trial court and appellate matters concerning agency decisions and class actions. He has been counsel of record in two matters that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, one of them twice.
Since entering private practice Mac has representing individuals or whole classes of individuals in federal and state courts ranging from North and South Carolina, to Florida, Texas Connecticut and Nevada, most often in insurance policy holder claims or in ERISA cases for professionals and other employees in disability or life insurance matters, in catastrophic injury or death cases and in comp work injury or disease and other ERISA benefit matters. He particularly enjoys trying cases before a judge or jury, whether in state or federal court.
Mac practices with three other attorneys for The Sasser Law Firm, P.A. in Charlotte and thoroughly enjoys his work and solving the problems confronting his clients. Outside of his profession, Mac’s passions are hiking and camping and spending time with his two children, volunteering, music, windsurfing and traveling.
